Today we
managed to get out much earlier, but more SNAFUS with the notebook computer
meant that we lost most of yet another sunny morning trying to sort them
out. Staff at the Internet
Cafe
in Kirkwall, Orkney, were as puzzled as we were as to why
we could not upload files to the remote servers (which
are in Hong Kong)
, and it was a very frustrating time for
everyone. However, the Internet
Cafe
staff invited us back the following day, and assured us they
would look into the problems and try to come up with a solution

We
were very grateful for all their assistance, and so in mid afternoon we got ourselves
off to Scara Brae, and later to the Stones of Stenness around 17:30.
The
weather was cloudy with occasional bursts of sunshine, which made for some atmospheric
scenery, and this also applied to our second visit to the Ring of Brodgar. Below
are just a small sample of the photographs taken by the expedition team

Visitors
wanting to find these sites on their own would be wise to get a copy of
the
Landranger Map No.6
, which shows the location of all megalithic
sites on the Orkney Islands
